This video is an attempt to understand and deconstruct similar practices followed by Hindi filmmakers in the song and dance sequences. Are they right? Are they wrong? Should we demand greater standards? Or just succumb to lower standards?

how about you do all those dance moves and do all the work that is done and then I would like to see you talk like this about it. Also the young India does listen to these songs.

great video, a good example of how these kinds of scenes should be shot and used both as a storytelling mechanism and a point of interest visually is the sequence of Bismil from the movie Haider. it is a plot summary song so i suppose it already has an advantage, but the camera is positioned for the most part as a passive viewer in the audience, at times giving perspective shots from Shahid on stage. The lack of interruptions in the longer dance sequences really play to both the dancers and the story's strengths and benefits !

Bollywood always sucked except for one or two songs and will always suck with all the stupid same item songs and repetitive dance patterns. Thanks a lot for making this video.

Bollywood is crass with movies made mostly for the predominantly uncouth mass of the country.

i know this might seem wack, but what this guy is talking about was done in Befikre. Most of the scenes were shot in long take format with very little editing enhancements. This made the movie very realistic and appealing. Just faltered in the story department.

Bollywood and every other cinema industry in India needs to stop adding dance and songs in every fucking movie. Make a musical movie for that for who are into it. A lot of movies would have looked soo much better and would have kept the audience focused on the story if they didn't add those stupid songs.
Then again a lot of movies are so shitty with story plot and acting they try to cover it up with songs.
