As part of our new “People Dance to…” series, Word on the Curb sourced people from all around the UK, of various backgrounds to dance to the one of the world’s most renowned and celebrated genres – Bollywood.
With tales of love and loss, and brightly coloured displays of dance and song, the genre seeks to have all the senses of the viewer alive and kicking.
With revered singers such as Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar providing the soundtrack for stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit, the whole symphony is one that Indian and global audiences will be enjoying for years to come.
We thought it would be particularly interesting to see how people – familiar or unfamiliar with the sound to respond to the music on the dance floor.
A particular person to look out for is Lucas with his evergreen lust for life, and Hussain, who shows us how much he really loves Bollywood.
